Petar Vrankic

Petar Vrankić (* 1947 in Glavatičevo , Bosnia and Herzegovina , Yugoslavia ) is a German-Croatian Catholic theologian and church historian .

Life

From 1968 to 1970 he studied philosophy and theology in Split and from 1970 to 1980 philosophy, theology, canon law and church history in Rome ( Urbaniana , Lateran University and Gregorian ). After ordination in 1974, he obtained the Lic. Hist. Eccl. at the Pontificia Università Gregoriana, the Lic. theol. 1978 at the Pontificia Università Lateranense and the Dr. hist. eccl. 1980 at the Pontificia Università Gregoriana. He became a professor in Sarajevo in 1979for church history and ecumenical theology at the Philosophical-Theological College, which he headed from 1981 to 1985 as Vice-Rector . From 1984 to 1987 he conducted research in archives on the church history of Eastern and Southeastern Europe in Rome, Paris , Vienna , Budapest , Istanbul and Saint Petersburg . After completing his habilitation in 1995 as a Dr. theol. habil. At the theological faculty of the University of Augsburg he taught from 1996 to 2012 as an adjunct professor for church history of the Middle Ages and the modern age with special consideration of the history of the Eastern churches since 1054. He also took on teaching positions at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and the Otto-Friedrich- University of Bamberg true. From 1998 to 2004 he lectured as a professore associato church history at the Pontificia Università della Santa Croce .
