Peter Adeberg (born May 23, 1968 in Merseburg ) is a former German speed skater .

In 1983 he took part in the GDR junior championships in all-around competitions. On the 333-meter oval in Erfurt , where the Gunda-Niemann-Stirnemann Hall stands today, he came in fifth. In 1987 he was GDR champion for the first time. Over 1500 meters he surpassed the German record holder André Hoffmann . Between 1986 and 1998 he won a total of 13 German titles - both in the GDR and in the Federal Republic .

In the 1985/86 season Adeberg made his entry into the World Cup. He achieved his best placement in Baselga di Pinè with 11th place over 1000 meters. At the second World Cup in Berlin on December 6th, he won his first World Cup over 1500 meters with a track record. With 1.56.80 he stayed 15/100 ahead of the Austrian Michael Hadschieff . He was 18 years (and 196 days) old at the time. He was and is the youngest World Cup winner in speed skating.

The specialist in the middle distance was also able to assert itself among the all- rounders. Between 1987 and 1998 he took part in eight European championships . In Sarajevo 1991 he achieved his best result with rank 7.

Adeberg took part in four Winter Olympic Games over 500, 1000 and 1500 meters. His best result was in 1992 fifth place over 1000 meters in Albertville and four other top 10 placements. At the individual distance world championships in 1996 , he finished 5th over 1500 and 6th place over 1000 meters.
