Peter Adolphsen (born September 1, 1972 in Aarhus ) is a Danish writer.

Life

He grew up in Aalborg , Vienna and Green Bay ( Wisconsin ), attended the Nordic Drama School at the Aarhus Theater and the Forfatterskolen (authors' academy) in Copenhagen . He lived in Spain for several years and studied Arabic there in Córdoba , among other things . Since 2000 he has been a freelancer for the Danish daily newspaper Information .

Adolphsen made his debut as a poet in 1991 as a poet in an anthology edited by Poul Borum , but he was best known for two volumes of Små Historier (Little Stories), published in 1996 and 2000. Although the author usually limits himself to one or two pages, he deals with existential questions of humanity in his often bizarre and grotesque texts. In the 70-page short story Brummstein (Brummstein) published in 2003, German history of the 20th century becomes the subject of literature in a very original way . A weakly radioactive stone from the Hölloch cave system in Switzerland moves from hand to hand, ends up in the possession of an anarchist , a Jewish girl and an avant-garde artist influenced by Joseph Beuys . In this way, the stone experienced the Weimar Republic , the Second World War , the GDR and the West German post-war period .

The stylistically very elaborate prose texts of Adolphsen are in the tradition of authors such as Franz Kafka , Jorge Luis Borges , Raymond Queneau , Per Højholt or Peter Seeberg .
