Péter Baczakó (born September 27, 1951 in Ercsi , † April 1, 2008 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian weightlifter .
Life
In 1976 he won a bronze medal in the light heavyweight division at the Olympic Games in Montreal . Four years later he won at the Olympic Games in Moscow the gold medal in the Middle heavyweight. At world championships he was able to win three silver and six bronze medals in different weight classes in the course of his career. 1979 he became European champion; in addition, he came six times to the second and four times to the third place at European championships.
Baczakó died at the age of 56 of complications from cancer, and he was also suffering from muscular dystrophy .
