Peter Busmann (born July 17, 1933 in Hanover ) is a German architect .

Life

After studying architecture (1953 to 1958) in Karlsruhe and Braunschweig , he wrote his diploma thesis with Egon Eiermann .

In 1962, Peter Busmann founded his own office in Cologne with the construction of the Max-Ernst-Gymnasium in Brühl, which received the Cologne Architecture Prize in 1967 after its completion . In 1967 he was elected to the board of the BDA . In 1969, together with Erich Schneider-Wessling, he founded the architectural community Bauturm in Cologne, later named after the Bauturmtheater. In 1972 he was a founding member of the Chamber of Architects and founded the partnership with Godfrid Haberer , which today operates under the name Busmann + Haberer . In 1977 the organism and technology working group was founded with the artist and philosopher Hugo Kükelhaus . Busmann is a member of the Deutscher Werkbund NW.

Busmann has been planning and building educational projects in the slums of Peru and Colombia for over 25 years and is, among other things, chairman of the German development association Herederos del Planeta. Heirs of the earth e. V. Overcoming poverty through education .

In the wake of controversial discussion on the realization of the Jewish Museum in the Archaeological Zone Cologne a cheaper alternative was Peter Busmann presented in February 2013, which only a partial overbuilding of the town square with glass bodies and setting up a larger area museum in the former basement of the town hall with Entrance from the Alter Markt. The glass constructions then give an insight into the archaeological zone. Busmann calls for a moratorium on the construction of the Jewish Museum and the invitation to tender for a new architectural competition.

Peter Busmann has been with the actress Vreneli Busmann, born in 1958. Dreutler, married and has two daughters.
