Peter Christian Feigel

Peter Christian Feigel (born June 24, 1966 in Lippstadt ) is a German conductor , arranger and musical director specializing in musicals and cross-genre crossover productions .

biography

Family and education

As a schoolboy, Feigel won a prize in the state competition Jugend jazzt in 1983 . After graduating from high school, he studied conducting with Karl-Heinz Bloemeke, school and church music (organ with Gerhard Weinberger , choir direction with Alexander Wagner and Georg Christoph Biller ) and Protestant theology and philosophy at Bielefeld University at the Detmold University of Music . He completed an apprenticeship in church music (A-exam) and passed a Kapellmeister exam ( artistic maturity exam in conducting).

Feigel is married, has a daughter and lives in Berlin , Kleinmachnow and Dresden .

After his training Feigel had engagements at the Staatstheater Cottbus , at the Berlin Friedrichstadt-Palast - there as the deputy chief conductor and artistic director of the young ensemble - and since 2010 as a co-ord. 1. Kapellmeister and supervisor musical at the Dresden State Operetta . Here he led u. a. the German premieres of Stephen Sondheim's “Passion” and Marc Shaiman's  “ Catch Me If You Can ”, which, along with Leonard Bernstein's  “ Wonderful Town ” and Kurt Weill's  “ One Touch of Venus ”, were the first complete German-language recordings on CD. With the musical premieres »Zzaun!« ( Alexander Kuchinka ) and »The Man with the Laughing« ( Frank Nimsgern ), he was nominated for the German Musical Theater Prize in the category “Best Musical Arrangement” in 2018 and 2019 .

He is a permanent guest conductor at the Komische Oper Berlin . He also works regularly with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg and the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt . He had other engagements a. with the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin , the State Philharmonic of Rhineland-Palatinate , the State Philharmonic of Transylvania in Cluj-Napoca (Romania) and the National Orchestra of Romanian Radio in Bucharest . In 2015 and 2017 he was chairman of the jury at the national singing competition for musicals / chanson.

He took over the musical direction of Ben Becker's production The Bible - a spoken symphony . He was the musical interpreter and artistic advisor for the film Vier Minuten .

Feigel was a lecturer at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden and at the Dresden International University . He regularly gives master classes at the Brandenburg Association of Music and Art Schools.
