Peter Czernin (architect)

Peter Philipp Arthur Czernin (born July 17, 1932 in Graz ; † January 31, 2016 ) was an Austrian architect . In 2004 he became the country Vienna with the Golden Badge of Honor for Meritorious Service to the Province of Vienna excellent.

Life

Czernin graduated from high school in 1950 and successfully passed the journeyman's examination for bricklayers in the same year. He then successfully completed his studies in architecture at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna in 1954 . In 1956 he became an employee of the architects' consortium Karl Schwanzer , Max Fellerer and Eugen Wörle . In 1958 he joined a working group with Matthias Lukas Lang and Anton Schweighofer . In 1965 he became a member of the Austrian UNESCO Commission for architectural and building sociological issues. In 1969 he set up his own business and founded his own architecture and engineering office in Vienna. His projects include a. the CA administration building and the Federal Office building in Liechtenwerderplatz in the course of the development of the Franz-Josef-Bahnhof -bahn systems, the training center Stiftskaserne as well as numerous residential developments in various districts of Vienna.

From 1980 to 1999 Czernin held several teaching positions at universities and dealt with questions of building history and building sociology.

He was buried at the Grinzing cemetery .
