Peter Ewald von Malschitzky

Peter Ewald von Malschitzky (born March 20, 1731 in Vargow , † November 2, 1800 in Kyritz ) was 1797 owner of the cuirassier regiment K 2 , Prussian major general , 1792 knight of the order Pour le Mérite .

Life

Peter Ewald came from the behind Pomeranian noble family Malschitzky , his parents were Ernst von Malschitzky , hereditary lord on Vargow and Margarethe Steinke .

He began his military career in 1748 as a cadet in Berlin . In 1756 he was accepted as a private corporal in the Dragoon Regiment of Normann (No. 1) .

During the Seven Years' War he took part in the battles of Prague , Kolin , Breslau , Leuthen , Zorndorf , Hochkirch , Torgau and Schweidnitz as well as the dissolution of the Saxon army at Pirna . He was wounded in Reichenbach , again near Liegnitz and again near Domstädt. During the war Malschitzky advanced to ensign in 1757, that same year to secondary lieutenant, then in 1761 to premier lieutenant, changed as such to the cuirassier regiment Prince of Prussia (No. 2) and was finally adjutant general to Colonel von Zastrow from 1761 to 1763 .

In 1764 Malschitzky was promoted to staff cavalry officer, and in 1767 to cavalry officer and company commander. As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession .

His promotion to major took place in 1780 under Christian Rudolf von Weiher . In 1789 he advanced to lieutenant colonel, changed in 1791 to the cuirassier regiment of Ilow (No. 7) , where he was promoted to colonel and commander of the regiment that same year .

Malschitzky then took part in the First Coalition War , in particular the battles of Mainz , Valmy , Kaiserslautern , Moorlautern and Pirmasens . For his work at Pirmasens he received the order Pour le Mérite.

Finally, in 1797 Malschitzky became chief of the cuirassier regiment von der Marwitz (No. 2) and was last promoted to major general in 1798.

Peter Ewald von Malschitzky first married Karoline Wilhelmine von Mützschefall adH Barsikow-Ruppin in 1768 . In 1787 he married Wilhelmine Marie Friederike von Arnim adH Kröchlendorf (* 1754, † 1810), with whom he had two sons, both of whom went to the infantry, and four daughters.
