Peter Falk (engineer)

Peter Falk (born November 27, 1932 in Athens ) is a German engineer . He was race director and head of chassis development at Porsche , where he was responsible for the series development of several models.

Peter Falk was born in Athens on November 27, 1932, the son of an archaeologist. After graduating from high school, he completed an apprenticeship as a car mechanic at Daimler-Benz and then studied mechanical engineering specializing in automotive engineering .

In 1959 he became a test engineer at Porsche. From 1964 to 1969 he was head of racing vehicle development. In 1965 he drove the racing debut of the Porsche 911 as Herbert Linge's co-driver at the Monte Carlo Rally , which came in fifth and won the GT class . From 1969 to 1982 Peter Falk was head of the pre-development and racing department, and in 1982 he became race director. From 1988 he was head of chassis development, and in 1993 he retired.

Peter Falk was responsible for the series development of the 928 , 944 , 964 Turbo and 968 . He was instrumental in the development and use of racing cars 956 / 962 of Group C , the 959 and the Porsche 2708 CART .

Peter Falk has been married to Ruth Falk since 1960 and lives near Ludwigsburg . He works as a consultant for motorsport events, for example for the old-timer rallies Silvretta Classic and Ennstal-Classic , which he won in 1997 as Walter Röhrl's co-driver in a Porsche 356 . A conference room in the Abacco Hotel Stuttgart has been named after him since 2007.
