Feigl won 1978 in Cleveland , as a qualifier and the first Austrian ever to win a Grand Prix tournament. From 1975 to 1985 he played a total of 37 Davis Cup games, both singles and doubles, with a record of 19 wins and 18 losses. During this time he shaped Austrian tennis with his service volleyball, together with Hans Kary . Feigl won four ATP tournaments. He was the first Austrian to reach the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam tournament, namely at the 1978 Australian Open , where he narrowly failed to Arthur Ashe .
From 2000 Feigl was head of the Vienna ATP tournament for years , which he had previously supervised. Feigl is married and has two sons.
