Carlos Kirmayr (born September 23, 1950 in São Paulo ) is a former Brazilian tennis player .

Life

Kirmayr became a professional tennis player in the 1970s. In 1972 he was for the first time in the qualification of Wimbledon , where he lost his opening match. On the ATP World Tour in 1976 he won his first double title with changing partners in Madrid , Florence and Buenos Aires . In total, he was able to win ten double titles in his career, four of them at the side of Cássio Motta . He reached a final 14 times, seven times with Motta alone. Between 1976 and 1982 he was five times in a single final, but he did not want to win the title.

He reached his highest scores in the ATP world rankings in 1981 with position 36 in singles and 1983 with position six in doubles.

His best result in a Grand Slam tournament in singles he reached in 1981 at the French Open with the move to the second round. In doubles he was once in the quarterfinals of the French Open; he also reached the round of 16 at Wimbledon in 1974 and at the US Open in 1986 .

Kirmayr played 32 singles and 24 doubles games for the Brazilian Davis Cup team between 1971 and 1986 . His record in singles: 17 wins and 15 defeats, in doubles 17: 7.

After his professional career, Kirmayr was a member of the Board of Directors of ATP from 1983 to 1987 .
