Peter Gerig (born March 19, 1934 in Göschenen ) is a former Swiss biathlete .

Peter Gerig was a member of the Swiss national biathlon squad in the middle and second half of the 1960s. His first major event was the 1963 Biathlon World Cup in Seefeld in Tyrol , where the Swiss came 42nd. Gerig started next at the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964 and was the weakest Swiss, just behind his three compatriots in 48th place, penultimate ahead of the Mongolian Tsambyn Dandsan . While the running time was mediocre, Gerig missed 16 of 20 shots and thus got 32 penalty minutes and showed the worst shooting performance in the entire starting field. A year later he entered the Biathlon World Cup in Elverum in 1965 and reached 39th place. In 1966 he finished ninth in Garmisch-Partenkirchen with Erich Schönbächler , Fredi Vogel and Ruedi Etter as the starting runner of the relay in the relay race, which was held for the first time in the official program of the world championships. In 1967 in Altenberg and 1969 in Zakopane , Gerig competed again in the individual and finished in 38th and 55th.
