Peter Gradin (born December 9, 1958 in Långsele ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player and today's coach . Since 2015 he has been the head coach of the U20 youth team at IF Sundsvall Hockey in the J20 SuperElit . His brother Thomas was also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Peter Gradin began his career as a hockey player at Långsele AIF. From there he moved to MoDo AIK , for whose professional team he was active from 1976 to 1978 in the Elitserien , the highest Swedish league. For the 1978/79 season the attacker was committed by AIK Solna , where he became a regular player and crowd favorite in the following years. After he was runner-up with his team in the 1980/81 season , he won the Swedish championship title with AIK Solna in the 1981/82 and 1983/84 seasons . In the 1985/86 season , the left-handed shooter and his team suffered relegation from bottom of the table in the second division Division 1, from which he succeeded in immediate promotion with AIK.

In the 1987/88 season , the first season in the Elitserien after promotion, he got 29 goals for his team, making him the second best scorer in the main round behind his compatriot Eddy Ericsson . Following the 1991/92 season , he ended his active career at the age of 33. Since then, his number 11 has not been used by AIK Solna. With his team he also holds several club records, including the most goals, assists and scorer points as well as most completed games and seasons.

International

For Sweden Gradin took part in the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo , where he won the bronze medal with his team, and the 1985 World Cup.

Trainer

In the 1997/98 season Gradin began his career as a trainer at his parent club AIK Solna, where he once again laced up the skate in the Elitserien for a single game. He then retired from professional business before he was head coach for IF Sundsvall Hockey from HockeyAllsvenskan , the second Swedish division, from 2007 to 2009 . From 2009 he was behind the gang in his hometown for third division AIK Härnösand .
