The Diocese of Abaetetuba (Latin Dioecesis Abaëtetubensis , Portuguese Diocese de Abaetetuba ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Abaetetuba in the State of Pará .

history

The diocese Abaetetuba was on November 25, 1961 by Pope John XXIII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Quandoquidem novae from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Belém do Pará as the territorial prelature of Abaeté do Tocantins . The territorial prelature Abaeté do Tocantins was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Belém do Pará as a suffragan .

On August 4, 1981, the territorial prelature Abaeté do Tocantins was raised to the diocese by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Qui ad Beatissimi .
