life and career

Greene didn't aspire to an acting career until he was in his mid-twenties. In the early 1990s he had a few minor roles in cinema and television. But in 1993 he was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Actor for his portrayal in Laws of Gravity . He had his breakthrough in 1993/94/95 with a remarkable series of four films: Shaved Straight , Pulp Fiction , The Mask and The Usual Suspects . Most famous was his role as rapist Zed in Pulp Fiction . In The Mask he played Dorian Tyrell , the opponent of Jim Carrey and Cameron Diaz , for whom this film was the beginning of a steep career. Greene's most respected acting performance to date was in the independent film Shaved Straight , in which he embodies the schizophrenic Peter Winter . In The Usual Suspects , he played the small but memorable role of Redfoot .

Greene asserts himself as a character actor and has a steady career without having achieved the big break as a star. He can be seen in many productions, but almost exclusively plays the bad guy or at least roles that appear negative.
