Peter Howitt (production designer)

Peter Howitt (* 1928 in London ) is a British set decorator and art director . He has been nominated for an Oscar four times so far .

Life

Howitt began his career in the 1960s. First works in the Art Department were films such as The Grave of Lygeia (1964) and Othello . He received his first Oscar nomination for Maria Stuart, Queen of Scotland (1971) together with Terence Marsh and Robert Cartwright . This was followed by nominations in 1982 for Ragtime , 1989 for Bad Game with Roger Rabbit and most recently in 1990 for Elizabeth .

In total, Howitt worked on more than 50 productions. His last work was in 2002 for the film The Four Feathers .
