Peter Jeffrey (actor)

Peter Jeffrey (born April 18, 1929 in Bristol , Gloucestershire , † December 25, 1999 in Stratford-upon-Avon , Warwickshire ) was a British actor who appeared in many film and television roles.

Life

Jeffrey was born to Florence Alice (née Weight) and Arthur Winfred Gilbert Jeffrey. He attended Harrow School and Pembroke College , Cambridge .

Career

After long appearances at the Bristol Old Vic and the Royal Shakespeare Company , he became known as a television actor. He also played King Philip II of Spain in the six-part BBC series Elizabeth R (1971) and Oliver Cromwell in By the Sword Divided (1983).

death

Jeffrey died of prostate cancer on December 25, 1999 .
