Peter Krier

Peter Krier (born January 22, 1935 in Biled , German  Billed , Kingdom of Romania ) is a former executive federal chairman of the Landsmannschaft der Banat Swabians , co-founder and chairman of the Banat Swabian aid organization Josef Nischbach Senior Center in Ingolstadt and holder of the Cross of Merit on the ribbon of Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany .

Live and act

Born in Biled as a member of the Banat Swabian ethnic minority , Krier and his family fled to Austria in September 1944 from the approaching Soviet army. In the summer of 1946 the family returned to Biled. Here Peter Krier attended elementary school. From 1946 to 1953 he completed high school and then the technical middle school in Timișoara , where he graduated as a qualified technician and initially worked as a technician in Timișoara. In 1968 he graduated from the Pedagogical Institute in Cluj-Napoca (Klausenburg) as a technical college teacher. From 1960 to 1970 he worked as a technical school teacher in Biled. In 1970, Krier and his family left for the Federal Republic of Germany. In Germany he worked as a designer and project manager at FAG Kugelfischer in Schweinfurt .

Krier was and is volunteering in numerous non-profit organizations and associations. Its diverse activities and initiatives extend in particular on a social, cultural and political level. In 2002 he received the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon for the Federal Republic of Germany.

Krier stood up for the Banat Swabians with exemplary commitment, according to the statement made by the then Federal President Johannes Rau . He stood up for his compatriots in numerous management tasks at the state and federal level, for example as the state chairman of the Landsmannschaft Bayern and as the executive federal chairman of the Landsmannschaft of the Banat Swabians. Krier supports compatriots living in the Banat, is involved in a leading position at Sankt Gerhardswerk, the aid organization of the Catholic Danube Swabians, was instrumental in setting up the Banat senior citizens' center in Ingolstadt and has contributed to the preservation of the Banat's cultural heritage. Krier is the initiator of the Cultural Association of Germans in the Banat, author of a book about the reception of refugees, displaced persons and resettlers in Schweinfurt and organizer of aid shipments to compatriots in need in the Banat. Peter Krier has made a name for himself through his exemplary commitment. He has organized numerous integration seminars for resettlers as well as seminars and conferences on local political issues and played a key role in the development of a nationwide network for the care of resettlers.

From 1978 to 1995, Peter Krier was a member of the national board of the Landsmannschaft der Banat Schwaben, where he was advisor for youth work until 1988. In 1984 he was elected deputy federal chairman and in 1992 executive federal chairman. He held this position until 1995. At the same time he was involved in the Bavarian State Association of the Banat Swabian Landsmannschaft, where he was state chairman from 1978 to 2003. He was the founder of the Schweinfurt district association of the Banat Swabian Landsmannschaft and has been district chairman since 1976. As the founder of the “ Heimatortsgemeinschaft Billed”, he was its chairman from 1975 to 2003. Krier is a co-founder of the Banat Swabian relief organization, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Adam Müller Guttenbrunn Foundation and its chairman since 2011.

Krier directed and initiated several cultural projects, including the memorial for Adam Müller-Guttenbrunn in his birthplace Zăbrani , the Billeder welfare station and the Banat Swabian department in the Banat Museum and the Banat Village Museum in Timișoara. He campaigned for the renovation of the Nikolaus Lenau memorial, his birthplace in Lenauheim and the Lenau exhibition and organized and collected for the Stefan Jäger exhibition in Ingolstadt and created an accompanying exhibition catalog that was published in 2012. He also campaigned for the Stefan Jäger memorial and meeting place in Stefan Jäger's birthplace Jimbolia . Together with Luzian Geier , he created concepts for exhibitions of the Bavarian State Association of Banat Swabians.

He is also a member of the regional committee of the Federation of Expellees , the Bavarian State Association and the Schweinfurt District Association. Krier has been a member of the board of the Sankt Gerhardswerk of the Banat Swabians since 1982 and a founding member of the Gerhards Forum of the Banat Swabians (2008). As a CSU member, he has been a member of the social welfare committee of the city of Schweinfurt since 1989 and a member of the petitions committee of Lower Franconia (1985–1996). At the church level, he is a member of the Eastern Church Committee of the Lower Franconia Diocesan Council (1986–1996).

As bileder, he played a key role in the organizational development of the hometown community ("HOG-Billed"), of which he was chairman for almost three decades and is currently its honorary chairman. He brought it forward in terms of organization and journalism by participating in the 27 issues of the "Billeder Heimatblatt", the establishment of the "Billeder war victims memorial", the "Billeder Kinsbuch", the home film recordings, and the creation of the "Billeder Heimathaus".

Krier is also a member of the Christian Social Union , the Association for German Cultural Relations Abroad , the Paneuropaunion , the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge and the German Alpine Association .
