Peter Mitterbauer

Peter Mitterbauer (born November 14, 1942 in Laakirchen , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian entrepreneur. From 1986 to 2013 he was CEO of Miba AG and from 1996 to 2004 President of the Federation of Austrian Industries .

Life

After finishing secondary school, Peter Mitterbauer studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Vienna and Graz , graduating in 1967 from the Vienna University of Technology. He then went to the United States for a postgraduate course and internship . In 1969 he joined the company founded by his father Franz Mitterbauer in 1927, where he initially headed overall sales and managed several associated companies. In 1973 he was appointed to the executive board and in 1986 he became CEO of Miba AG . In 2013 he handed over the chairmanship of Miba AG to his son Franz-Peter Mitterbauer.

From 1988 to 1996 he acted as President of the Upper Austria Regional Group of the Federation of Industrialists , then as President of the federal organization in succession to Heinz Kessler. In 2004, he was replaced by Veit Sorger in this position. From 1990 to 1996 he was also Vice President of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce , from 2001 to 2004 Vice President of the Union of Industrial and Employers' Confederation of Europe (UNICE), later Businesseurope . From 2006, he succeeded Alfred Heinzel as chairman of the supervisory board of Österreichische Industrieholding AG (ÖIAG), and in 2014 he was replaced by Siegfried Wolf . Peter Mitterbauer was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and member of the Board of Trustees of the Institute for Higher Studies (IHS). His daughter Therese Niss also works for Miba AG.
