Siegfried Wolf (born October 31, 1957 in Feldbach ) is an Austrian manager.

Life

Wolf was born in Feldbach, in Eastern Styria , where he grew up. His parents were farmers who worked the farm together with their seven children. From 1981 to 1985 he graduated from the higher technical institute for mechanical engineering and industrial engineering at the TGM (final class AB85b). He did this in addition to his teaching in the form of an evening school . Finally, he passed the master's examination. He then acquired the status of engineer through further training and practical experience .

After training as a master toolmaker at Philips , he worked in the company's quality assurance department. From 1981 he worked at the United Metalworks in Vienna , where he was in charge of the precision measuring room and then deputy head of quality control.

His next position was at Hirtenberger AG between 1983 and 1995 . There he first worked his way up from the head of the quality department to the head of the division. After Wolf subsequently held the position of operations manager, he was ultimately plant director and general authorized signatory.

In 1995 he moved to the company of Frank Stronach at Magna. Initially, Siegfried Wolf was President of Magna Europa AG until 2001 , from 1999 he was also Deputy Chairman of Magna International Inc. In 2001, Wolf then took over the role of President and Chairman of Magna Steyr AG . A year later, Wolf finally moved to the board of Magna International , where he held the post of deputy chairman until 2005. In April 2005 he was promoted to Chief Executive Officer (together with the Canadian Donald Walker ) of Magna International Inc. after the previous chairman Frank Stronach resigned from this position.

In 2000 he received the Great Silver Decoration for Services to the Republic of Austria .

In January 2008 Wolf was awarded the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the State of Vienna , in August 2008 with the professional title of Kommerzialrat and on September 24, 2009 he became honorary professor at the Technical University of Graz .

In September 2010 he announced his departure from Magna on November 15, 2010 to become Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Oleg Deripaska's “Russian Machines”. He has also been on the supervisory board of the construction company Strabag since 2007 . Siegfried Wolf has also been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Österreichische Industrieholding AG (ÖIAG) since June 2014 . He is also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Sberbank Europe AG, a European subsidiary of the largest Russian bank, Sberbank . In January 2016 he was awarded the Russian Order of Friendship .

He is married and has two daughters.
