Life

By profession a lawyer, Peter Neuber worked in the Lower Saxony state service from November 1, 1967 to November 9, 1969. He then moved to the federal service, where he held various positions, including a ministerial advisor in the Federal Ministry of Construction and head of the implementation of the Urban Development Act. On December 19, 1975 he became Lord Mayor of Neunkirchen. During his term of office there were numerous structural changes in Neunkirchen: on the one hand, the partial and later final closure of the Neunkircher Hütte , the laying of the foundation stone and opening of the Saarpark-Center shopping center , as well as multiple construction projects, including the Neunkirchen community center. Part of his commitment was also the city partnership with Lübben in the Spreewald . In 1987 Peter Neuber received Erich Honecker from Wiebelskirchen , who was then Chairman of the GDR State Council . At the time, Honecker's home visit was followed with tension by the public.

In 1988 Neunkirchen won the “Citizens, it's about your community” competition from the Federal Ministry of Construction.

In addition to his engagement as mayor, he was also chairman of the supervisory board of the NVG , the Gemeinnützigen Siedlungsgesellschaft GmbH (GSG) and the Saar Ost / Westpfalzgesellschaft Economic Development Corporation. In addition, he was president of the Neunkircher Verkehrsverein and deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Kommunale Energie- und Wasserversorgung AG (KEW) and Sparkasse Neunkirchen , as well as on the administrative committee of the employment office .

Regionally, he was President of the Saarland City and Municipal Association, and nationwide as a member of the main committee of the German City Association. In the Saarland he was represented in various committees for municipal supply.

After serving as Lord Mayor, he worked from 1990 to 1994 as State Secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry of Finance. From 1994 to 1996 he was in charge of real estate management for a hospital consortium in Lower Saxony. From 1996 to 2001 he was the sole managing director of the Lower Saxony regional transport company . Peter Neuber was retired in 2001. He died on November 1, 2013 after a long illness.

Neuber was married. He had a daughter and two sons.

The eastern branch of Lindenallee in Neunkirchen (seen from the intersection of Gustav -gler-Strasse / Westspange) was renamed Peter-Neuber-Allee in his honor on July 10, 2014.

Trivia

Peter Neuber used mostly a bow tie to wear a "fly". The Saarland dialect for fly is "Migg" (mosquito). Neuber soon received the nickname "Migge-Pitt", by which he was then known in Saarland.
