Peter Paul Weinert

Peter Paul Weinert (born May 2, 1948 in Heidenheim an der Brenz ; † September 29, 2012 in Holler ) was District Administrator of the Westerwaldkreis in Rhineland-Palatinate from 1985 to October 10, 2009 . He was a member of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany .

Career

Weinert, son of a weaver and master dyer, studied French , economics and law at the universities in Mainz and Lausanne . After passing the first and second (1975) state law exams, he began his career as an employed lawyer at Landesbank Rheinland-Pfalz and continued as a judge at the Koblenz Regional Court .

He then moved to the State Chancellery in Mainz as a consultant for economics and transport, energy issues, environmental protection as well as agriculture, viticulture and forestry, and from there in 1985 as the district administrator of the Westerwaldkreis in Montabaur, succeeding Norbert Heinen .

After Weinert was appointed as district administrator by the then Prime Minister Bernhard Vogel in 1985 (29 January provisionally; 5 March definitive), the district council confirmed him in his office on October 11, 1991. In 2001 he then succeeded in the direct election when the district administrator was first appointed by the voter. After diagnosing an ultimately fatal illness, he could no longer run for the 2009 local elections. In 1993 he became deputy chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate district council.

One of the lasting results of his almost 25-year term in office was the connection of Montabaur to the high-speed line Cologne-Frankfurt . As a district administrator, he was also chairman of the administrative board of the Kreissparkasse Westerwald. For his collaboration, Weinert was awarded the Dr. Johann Christian Eberle Medal honored.
