Peter Payer (* 1962 in Leobersdorf , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian historian, urban researcher and publicist. He lives in Vienna and Küb am Semmering.

Life

Peter Payer studied geography / spatial research and spatial planning as well as history / combination of subjects at the University of Vienna. In addition, he completed a course in exhibition and museum didactics. From 1990 he worked in various offices for architecture and urban research and from 1994 in the field of urban renewal (area management Vienna-Brigittenau). In 2002 he was a Research Fellow at the International Research Center for Cultural Studies in Vienna.

He runs an office for history and urban research and has been a curator at the Technisches Museum Wien since 2007 , section “Everyday Life” (2007–2013 head).

His publications and projects range from urban history / sensory history / environmental history / everyday history from the 19th to the 21st century. They deal with the following topics - mostly using the example of Vienna:
