Peter Rist

Peter Rist (born June 17, 1969 in Isny im Allgäu ) was for a while in public as a German local politician and pop singer . He gained fame as a composer , songwriter , trombonist and singer . As an entertainment musician , he moved stylistically between hits , pop music and chanson .

Family and personal life

Peter Rist is the seventh child of an innkeeper and a musician. Rist is married and has three children. In June 2013 he ended his political career as Finance Mayor of Reutlingen and returned to Allgäu to devote himself to his family and music. His wife has taken over his parents' restaurant and runs a café. In 2015 Rist ended his musical career and retired into private life until 2018.

Politician

After graduating from high school and doing military service, Rist began a civil service career in 1990 with training as a senior civil servant . In 1994 he passed his state examination for a degree in administrative management (FH) at Ludwigsburg University . Rist's first professional positions were in the district office of the Alb-Donau district in Ulm and the city of Neresheim . In 1996 he became treasurer and head of the municipal operations of Isny ​​im Allgäu. From 2005 to 2013 he was assistant mayor in Reutlingen . Because of his musical presentation of the budget situation, he was called the singing mayor. He decided not to run for a second term, returned to the Allgäu and shifted his activities more to the music industry.

For the free voters he won a seat in the Reutlinger Kreisag in the local elections in 2009 , which he belonged to until he changed residence in 2011. Rist was also a member of the Isny-Großholzleute local council from 2014 to 2017. In 2015 he stood for election to the mayor of Isny. The mayor Rainer Magenreuter, who has been in office since 2008, won the election with 58.6% of the votes, while Peter Rist received 40.2% of the votes.

Peter Rist became familiar with music and entertainment from his father at an early age. He was a choirmaster , conductor , wind and dance musician. As a teenager he was mainly active as a trombonist and vocalist in various ensembles . Over the years he emerged as a tenor and was a singer in musical groups. As a vocalist, Rist took an autodidactic approach.

On the occasion of the Heimattage Baden-Württemberg 2009, during his tenure as finance mayor, he gathered a group of voluntary local politicians and appeared as "Mayor Peter Rist and the councilors of Reutlingen". Rist also added entertaining elements to official appointments during his eight-year tenure.

Social entrepreneur

Since the end of his family phase and musical career, Peter Rist has worked in the management of social enterprises. Among other things, he was a manager of the St. Elisabeth Foundation and was elected as the new director of the Catholic Hospital Foundation Horb am Neckar on February 1, 2018, but did not take up this position.

Musical works

For the Heimattage Baden-Württemberg 2009 in Reutlingen, Peter Rist composed and wrote three titles that can be found on the CD "Kultur creates Heimat".

In the same year, Rist wrote the title “Only with you” for his wife's 40th birthday. The title was arranged by Hermann Weindorf and is included in two versions on his debut album "Willkommen im Leben!" The first album contained some own music and lyrics and was released in November 2011.

His follow-up album "Forever Free" from June 2013 only contains his own titles. Several titles were created with the composers Hermann Weindorf and Uwe Altenried and the lyricist Bernd Opinion .

With his title “There is no turning back!” He won the 22nd International Grand Prix of Popular Music 2014 ( Alpen Grand Prix ) as composer, lyricist and interpreter. For this track live trombone, backing vocals, supporting voices and choir voices came from himself. Rist produced the first two albums himself, the third album, "Das Wir sind wir sich," from July 2015, was produced together with Bogner Records.

Since 2014 Rist has also been writing titles and lyrics for other artists in the field of pop music and hits.

honors and awards

There is a documentary film “Peter Rist, Idealist” (Germany 2013). With the title “There is no turning back!”, Peter Rist won the 22nd International Grand Prix of Popular Music 2014 (“Alpine Grand Prix”) as an interpreter and music author and won 2nd place in the Schlager category at the finals in Merano .
