Life and works

Rummel was the son of a carpenter. From 1868 he studied at the Academy in Munich. In 1871 he received a scholarship. From 1872 to 1885 he was a student and assistant to Zumbusch . For example, he was involved in the production of the Beethoven monument , which was awarded a prize at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1878 and erected on Beethovenplatz in Vienna in 1880 . He later lived as a freelance sculptor in Vienna.

In collaboration with the architect Heinrich Claus, he designed the tomb of the married couple Johann Ritter von Schimke and Adolfine von Schimke at the Vienna Central Cemetery . The tomb has portal architecture in the neo-renaissance style . It is adorned with the figure of an angel and a mourner bending over an urn; a third figure with a coat of arms is on the steps of the tomb. A tondo with a double portrait of the deceased is held above the portal by Tutten .

Rummel lived at times like Betty Rummel in Hinterbrühl .
