Peter Rummel (theologian)

Peter Rummel (born December 4, 1927 in Landeshut , Lower Silesia Province , † October 6, 2014 in Memmingen ) was a German Catholic theologian .

Life

Peter Rummel studied theology and received in the May 22, 1955 Dillingen the priesthood . In addition to his further studies and later teaching activities, he was active in parish pastoral care in Nördlingen (1955–1958), Lamerdingen (1958–1963) and Donaualtheim (1963–2002).

In 1968 he was at the University of Munich with the dissertation P. Julius Priscianensis SJ 1542-1607. A contribution to the history of the Catholic restoration of the monasteries under the influence of the former University of Dillingen for Dr. theol. PhD . In the same year he became professor for diocese history at the seminary in Dillingen.

From 1971 to 2001 Rummel was 1st chairman of the Association for the History of the Augsburg Diocese and since November 2002 its honorary chairman. In 1972 he became a member of the Swabian Research Association .

After his retirement in 2002, he lived in Ronsberg , where he worked as a pastor until 2010. His grave is in the mountain cemetery in Ronsberg.

For his services he was awarded the honorary title of Papal Honorary Prelate .
