Peter Stephan (politician, 1818)

Peter Stephan (in official documents Peter Stephan III. ) (* February 11, 1818 in Blödesheim ; † October 20, 1888 in Heßloch ) was a Hessian economist and member of the 2nd Chamber of the Land estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Peter Stephan was the son of the farmer Nikolaus Stephan and his wife Christina nee Flörsch. His brother Jacob Stephan (1820-1905) was also a member of parliament. He married Katharina nee Madler. Their son, Karl Peter Stephan (1853–1927), also became a member of parliament.

Peter Stephan was an economist in Hessloch. From 1849 to 1868 he was also mayor there

From 1872 to 1881 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Estates. He was elected for the constituency Rheinhessen 7 / Nieder-Olm and the National Liberal Party .
