Peter von Dusburg , also Peter von Duisburg , was a chronicler of the Teutonic Order .

Peter von Dusburg lived approximately from the second half of the 13th to the first half of the 14th century, but his exact life dates are unknown. His main work Chronicon Terrae Prussiae ("Chronicle of Prussia") was written by the Teutonic order priest in Königsberg during the time of Grand Master Werner von Orselen . He handed over the work to him in 1326. Additions to his chronicle extend to 1330. The work was intended as a table reading for the friars. The text begins in 1190. The work describes the military history of the order in Prussia and the aim is to exhort the friars not to slacken in the fight against the heathen. In addition, peculiarities of the pagan Prussians are named, with details on their beliefs, sanctuaries and cults (see Baltic mythology ). The chronicle has only survived in copies from the 15th century. It achieved a wider impact when it was translated into German verse by Nikolaus von Jeroschin in the 14th century. Dusburg's chronicle has been critically commented on by Max Toeppen and other historians.
