Peter von Hohenthal
Peter Freiherr von Hohenthal , since 1790 Graf von Hohenthal , (* 2 September 1726 in Leipzig , † 14. August 1794 in Herrnhut ) was electoral Saxon Kreishauptmann and last Oberkonsistorialvizepräsident.
Life
He was the son of the secret war councilor Peter Freiherr von Hohenthal auf Trossin and Wallendorf , son of Peter Hohmann .
In 1748 he bought Christoph Heinrich von Zaschnitz's two manors, Falkenberg / Elster and Schmerkendorf in the Liebenwerda office . He also acquired the Kossa manor in 1765, the Knautnaundorf Vorwerk in 1766 and the Döbernitz hereditary estate in 1769 .
He was married to Dorothee Elisabeth geb. by Haeseler (also: written by Häßler!); the royal Prussian secret council August von Haeseler on Klosterhäseler and Gößnitz was her father.
In 1775 he was involved in setting up the breeding and work house in Zwickau .
Peter Graf von Hohenthal was buried in the hereditary crypt of the Kossa church, as was his wife Dorothee Elisabeth (1725–1767). His father Peter Freiherr von Hohenthal (1694–1763) also lies here. The grave / crypt slab with an inscription for the three people is now on the outer south wall of the Kossa church.
Count Peter left the two sons Friedrich August Graf von Hohenthal (1750–1798) and Peter Carl Wilhelm Graf von Hohenthal . The former took over the two estates Falkenberg and Schmerkendorf, which after his death in 1798 fell to his younger brother Peter, the lawyer and politician.
