Petr Knop (born May 12, 1994 in Jablonec nad Nisou ) is a Czech cross-country skier .

Career

Knop, who starts for the Dukla Liberec, took part for the first time in Horní Mísečky in the Slavic Cup at the beginning of the 2010/11 season and finished 24th over 10 km classic. At the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival 2011 in Liberec he achieved 36th place in the sprint, 23rd place over 7.5 km freestyle and 16th place over 10 km classic. In the following year he came in the Olympic Youth Winter Games 2012 in Innsbruck on the 16th place in the sprint on the 12th place in the mixed relay and on the ninth place over 10 km classic. His best result at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2013 in Liberec was 11th place in the skiathlon . In March 2013 he reached his first podium in the Slavic Cup with third place in the 15 km mass start race in Kremnica . A week later he took his first victory in the Slavic Cup in Zakopane in the 10 km freestyle and reached fifth place in the overall cup standings. After three top ten results in the Slavic Cup at the beginning of the 2013/14 season, he made his debut in the World Cup in Nové Město in January 2014 and finished 78th in the sprint and 28th place together with Dusan Augustinak in the team sprint. His best result at the following Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme was fifth in the skiathlon. At the end of the season he came in the Slavic Cup in Štrbské Pleso another three times in the top ten and reached fifth place in the overall standings, as in the previous year. The Nordic Opening in Lillehammer at the beginning of the following season he finished in 86th place. This was followed by appearances in the Alpine Cup , in which he mostly achieved placements outside the points. In February 2015 he achieved the 28th place in the 15 km freestyle and the 25th place in the skiathlon at the U23 World Championships 2015 in Astana . In the same month he finished 46th in the skiathlon and ninth place with the relay at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun . At the end of the season he came back on the podium in the Slavic Cup in Harrachov with third place over 15 km. At the beginning of the 2015/16 season he reached 67th place in the World Cup Mini Tour in Ruka . At the U23 World Championships in 2016 in Râşnov , he achieved 52nd place in the sprint and 13th place over 15 km freestyle and 15 km classic. After finishing 62nd in the World Cup Mini Tour in Lillehammer at the beginning of the 2016/17 season, he came in 15th place over 15 km freestyle and 14th place in the skiathlon at the 2017 U23 World Championships in Soldier Hollow . His best placings at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti were 33rd place in the 50 km mass start race and 11th place with the relay. In March 2017 he finished third in the 15 km mass start race at the Slavic Cup in Harrachov. At the beginning of the 2017/18 season he achieved 64th place in the Ruka Triple and got his first World Cup points with two 30th places in the Tour de Ski 2017/18 , which he finished in 31st place in the Fiemme Valley . His best results at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang were 24th place over 15 km freestyle and tenth place with the relay. At the World Cup finals in Falun, he finished 47th.

In the 2018/19 season, Knop finished 70th in the Lillehammer Triple and 39th in the Tour de Ski 2018/19 . His best results at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol were 48th place in the 50 km mass start race and 11th place with the relay.
