Petra Piuk

Petra Piuk (* 1975 in Güssing ) is an Austrian writer .

Life

Petra Piuk grew up in Kukmirn for the first two years before the family moved to Vienna . She completed an acting course and studied German at the University of Vienna . In 2012/13 she graduated from the Leondingen Academy for Literature.

In 2016 her debut novel “Lucy flies” was published, for which she received a project grant from the Federal Chancellery. The book deals with pseudo -worlds and docu-soaps and was awarded the book prize of the City of Vienna. In October 2016 she was awarded the Literature Prize of the Province of Burgenland, endowed with 2500 euros, for her short story Kinderbauernhof . In 2016 she was a finalist in the Floriana literary competition .

In 2017, Toni and Moni or: Instructions for the Heimatroman, their second novel, was published. Other works appeared in the literary magazines kolik , & Radieschen , Die Rampe , Driesch and Keine Delikatessen , among others . With her work she was invited to the literature festivals O-Töne (2016) and Sprachsalz (2017), among others . Petra Piuk lives and works in Vienna. As a television editor she worked in the docu-soap area.

In 2018 she wrote the play Talkshow 1933 for the Burgenland theater initiative. And what color are your eyes? based on the minutes of the so-called Gypsy Conference 1933 with high-ranking officials and politicians.
