Petri Kujala (born September 12, 1970 in Forssa ) is a former German - Finnish ice hockey player ( striker ) and current coach. He has been the head coach of EHC Bayreuth since the 2018/19 season .

Player career

Kujala began his career in the 1990/91 season with FPS Forssa in the second-rate Finnish 1st division . He played for the club for five years before running up for JYP Jyväskylä in the SM-liiga and later for Diskos Jyväskylä and again FPS Forssa in the 1st division in the 1995/96 season. In the 1996/97 season , Kujala came to Germany and played in the second-rate 1st League North for EHC Neuwied and won the championship there in the 1996/97 and 1997/98 seasons with the club and also in 1997 the DEB League Cup .

Kujala then completed a season for EC Graz in the Austrian Oberliga , but returned to Germany in 2000 . First he played one season for Moskitos Essen in the DEL and then for two years for the Berlin Capitals , also in the DEL. Then he moved to the 2nd Bundesliga and went there for two years for Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg . Two years followed with EV “Die Füchse” Duisburg , with whom he made it to the DEL after the first season. The last stop of his active career was the EV Ravensburg , where he also played for two years and after his first season with the team made it to the 2nd Bundesliga.

Coaching career

From 2008 to 2012 Petri Kujala was youth coach at EV Ravensburg, where he took over the post of head coach of the professional team for the 2012/13 season and continued until the end of the 2013/14 season.

For the 2014/15 season he was the head coach of EC Bad Nauheim in Germany's second-highest division DEL2 . His contract was extended in January 2016 to the end of the 2016/17 season. Kujala was named the best coach of the DEL2 season 15/16 in March 2016.

His wife is former professional triathlete Wenke Kujala .
