The Petros ( Ukrainian and Russian Петрос ) is a 2020 m high mountain in the Forest Carpathians in Ukraine .
The two-thousand- meter peak, also known as "Sturmberg", is the fourth highest mountain in Ukraine and is located in the northwestern part of the Chornohora mountain range with the Scheschul ( Шешул 1728 m ) in the southwest and the Hoverla in the east. It is located in the Carpathian Biosphere Reserve in the Transcarpathian Oblast .
The mountain is one of the most visited and dangerous peaks in the Carpathian Mountains. It consists of sandstone and is mainly covered with subalpine vegetation . Shrubs ( juniper, Siberian rhododendron ) and fir forests grow up to a height of 1530 to 1600 meters . Avalanches are common in winter .
