Petter Askergren (2009)

Petter Alexis Askergren (born May 25, 1974 ), known as Petter , is a Swedish rapper from Stockholm .

Career

Petter, rapping in Swedish , made his debut in 1998 with the album Mitt sjätte sinne (“My sixth sense”), which can be seen as the trigger for the Swedish hip-hop wave in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Both the first single Vinden har vänt and the album made it into the top 10 and achieved gold status. With the second album Bananrepubliken he went to number one a year later and went platinum, as well as for the album single Saker & ting , which came to number two in the single charts. The album was even able to place itself in neighboring Norway . The follow-up album Petter in 2001 did not quite meet expectations and did not reach the top 10, but was awarded gold again.

The next two albums Ronin (2004) and P (2006) achieved better placements - P was his second number one album - but did not reach the previous sales figures. The single Det går bra nu was even more successful and reached number 3. He also rapped together with Mange Schmidt on his number 2 hit Toxig . With the next two studio albums God Damn It and En räddare i nöden , Petter was able to underline his position as an established chart interpreter.

In 2010 he was one of the first seven participants in Så mycket bättre , the Swedish edition of Sing my song - The Exchange Concert . The highlight of the first season was the interpretation of his hit microphone kåt by the singer September . Her version went on to become a number one hit and stayed at the top of the charts for 11 weeks. Petter himself was also able to enter the Swedish charts with three cover versions .

After the television broadcast, he released the album Samlar ut den , which contained his six series contributions and four duets, two of which had previously appeared as a single. With Längesen together with Veronica Maggio and Bäksmalla with September, two of his three songs were included, which achieved platinum status. Like the album, Bäksmalla reached number 3 in the charts.

Two years later, Petter was featured in another television show: He was one of the four jurors in the only issue of The Voice Sverige . It wasn't until the following year that there was another publication from him. The album Början på allt was released in 2013 and after twelve years he got a gold record for an album again. However, this time he remained without single successes.

Petter owns a record label called Bananrepubliken (The Banana Republic) and also studied art history for a while at Uppsala University.

He and his wife Mikaela have two children.
