Pfaffenhausen is a district of the Bavarian city of Hammelburg in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen .
Geographical location
Pfaffenhausen is located south of Hammelburg.
The St 2294 running west of Pfaffenhausen leads north to the B 287 between Hammelburg and Pfaffenhausen and then as the B 27 to Untererthal . The St 2294 leads south to Gauaschach .
history
The first known mention of Pfaffenhausen took place at the beginning of the 10th century, when Bruotbert and his wife Kunigund received the place Pfaffenhausen in return for the donation of their inheritance, a monastery. In 1543 the Lords of Hutten sold the place to the Archbishop of Mainz, Albrecht von Brandenburg .
In the 15th century the St. Leonhard Church was built in the village . Around the year 1580 the Jewish cemetery of the place was built , on which the deceased Jews of Bonnland , Hammelburg, Untererthal and Westheim were buried.
As part of the municipal reform , Pfaffenhausen became a district of Hammelburg on April 1, 1971.
