Catholic parish church hl. Jakob in Buchkirchen

The Roman Catholic parish church Buchkirchen is in the village of Buchkirchen in the market town of Buchkirchen in the district of Wels-Land in Upper Austria . The church consecrated to St. Jacob - incorporated into Kremsmünster Abbey - belongs to the Deanery Wels-Land in the Diocese of Linz . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection .

history

A church was mentioned in a document in 1179. The late-Gothic church building was baroque in the middle of the 17th century . In 1889/1890 the church was largely renewed.

architecture

To the nave four-bay nave with pilasters under a ring belts tonne to a retracted closes einjochiger chorus with a three-eighths-circuit under a vault ton. The west gallery is two-story. The west tower has a baroque onion helmet.

The high altar was built in 1893. The side altars and the pulpit from the end of the 18th century are classicistic . The two side altar paintings Crucifixion and Baptism of Christ were painted by Martin Johann Schmidt (1798) and were restored in 1956/1957.

The cemetery gate is from the middle of the 17th century.
