Catholic parish church of the Assumption in Ebbs

The Roman Catholic parish church Ebbs is located in the municipality of Ebbs in the Kufstein district in Tyrol . It is the Feast of the Assumption consecrated and belongs to the deanery Kufstein in the Archdiocese of Salzburg . The church is a listed building . The church is also called "Ebbs Cathedral".

Building description

The church was built by Abraham Millauer from 1748 to 1756 ; The Romanesque predecessor church, consecrated by Archbishop Eberhard I of Salzburg in 1163, was completely demolished. This church is a late baroque church building. The church, which looks unadorned from the outside, is lavishly adorned and decorated on the inside. The showpiece, the miraculous image of the Mother of God, is particularly worth mentioning. This is located in the high altar and comes from Josef Martin Lengauer . The hand-carved Madonna, who is carrying a child, probably comes from the previous building of the current church. There is also a ceiling painting by Josef Adam Mölk in the church . Furthermore also frescoes which tell from the life of the Mother of God. The birth of Mary can be seen above the high altar and the wedding and the Ascension in the nave.

Bells

The ringing consists of five bells and is tuned in the tone sequence b 0 -d 1 -f 1 -g 1 -b 1 . It was cast by the Pfundner bell foundry in 1949/1950 . In 2006 the big bell was re-cast by Rudolf Perner due to a crack . The bells were completely refurbished. In the case of the two large bells, the usual Tyrolean clapper catchers were removed, the old clappers were replaced with counterweight clappers and the ringing angle was considerably reduced. Only the three small ones could be kept in their original condition. This created an inhomogeneous sound image, which has been remedied by a renewed renovation since around 2015. The tower windows were fitted with blinds and the two large bells were fitted with lace catchers again.
