Josef Martin Lengauer

Josef Martin Lengauer (born March 8, 1723 in Hall in Tirol ; † May 26, 1793 in Kitzbühel ) was an Austrian sculptor .

Life

Lengauer did his apprenticeship with Johann Baptist Straub in Munich. He married the widow of the sculptor Franz Offer and thus took over the sculptor's workshop in Kitzbühel . He is considered to be the most important late Baroque sculptor in Tyrol and received many orders for church furnishings in the Kitzbühel area.
