Building description

The late Gothic building, which is marked 1491 on the southwest buttress , has been renewed several times over the centuries. In 1850 the rebuilding of the tower and other Gothic additions were completed. The south portal is protected by a vaulted vestibule between buttresses. The west portal with multiple grooved walls , pinnacle framing and crowning as well as heraldic shields was provided with a pent roof in 1995. The war memorial on the north side of the church was created by Valentin Oman .

The wooden pointed barrel vault with stitch caps in the four-bay nave and the retracted two-bay choir with five-eighth end comes from the middle of the 19th century. The polygonal wall services of the original vault of the nave end in rich foliage capitals . The three-axis late Gothic west gallery stands on octagonal pillars and is vaulted with mesh ribs.

Facility

The post-classical high altar was created in 1850 by a certain Sabidusi based on plans by a Fantoni from Udine. The altar bears the statue of St. Nicholas, flanked by the princes of the apostles Peter and Paul . The two side altars are works by Alois Pogotz. The left altar from 1857 hides a statue of the Madonna in the central niche. At the top are the figures of Saints Barbara and Catherine . The right altar from 1858 bears a crucifixion group with Mary and John in the central niche, as well as the sculptures of Veronica and Mary Magdalene in the top .

The relief-like female figures on the basket of the Gothic pulpit from 1853 symbolize the Christian virtues of faith, love and hope. The small baptismal font in the branch Gothic style dates from the beginning of the 16th century. The church also features an Annunciation relief carved around 1520 and a late Gothic Madonna figure on the triumphal arches from around 1500, a Baroque Trinity group from the first half of the 18th century in the choir, and a carved figure of St. Nicholas from the last quarter of the 15th century in Nave and the console figures of St. Sebastian and the lessons of Mary from the first half of the 18th century.
