Parish church Krensdorf
The Roman Catholic parish church in Krensdorf is in an elevated position in the municipality of Krensdorf in the Mattersburg district in Burgenland . The parish church , consecrated to St. Sigismund , belongs to the Mattersburg deanery in the Eisenstadt diocese . The church is a listed building .
history
A church was mentioned in a document in 1597. The church, which was renovated in 1674, was burned down during the Turkish War in 1683, rebuilt in the 18th century and expanded in 1793 and given a tower. The church was renovated in 1868 and restored in 1970.
architecture
The rectangular nave , built using older masonry, has a façade with a blind gable. The broad three-storey western tower presented has a stone pyramid helmet. The choir with three flat elliptical closed cones has a buttress to the east. The sacristy and the gallery staircase are built on to the north.
The four-bay nave has the two western bays under a groin vault and the two eastern bays under a barrel vault with stitch caps on flat pilasters . The gallery has no supports. The choir yoke has a square vault and bowls with stitch caps above the apses .
Furnishing
There is a popular altar in the choir. The baptismal font bears the former high altar tabernacle from the 19th century. Opposite is the new tabernacle from 1915 as a counterpart. The former high altar picture St. Sigismund is labeled Bratić pinxit 1906. There is a funebral cross with a skull from the 18th century.
