Krumbach parish church

The Roman Catholic parish church of Krumbach is in the center north and west of the cemetery in the Bregenzerwälder community Krumbach in the district of Bregenz in Vorarlberg . The church is consecrated to Saint Martin and belongs to the deanery of Vorderwald-Kleinwalsertal . The church is a listed building .

history

The consecration of a church is documented as early as 1490. In 1500 it was raised to a chaplaincy and in 1648 to an independent parish church. Between 1719 and 1728 the church was rebuilt. Today's church is a largely new building from 1802 to 1803. The consecration took place in 1806. In 1862 the church tower was raised. A restoration took place between 1972 and 1974.

Church building

Exterior

The church is a simple hall building from the beginning of the 19th century. The nave sides are four-axis. The retracted choir is uniaxial and has a polygonal end. The church tower is in the northern corner of the choir. The bell storey has beveled corners and arched sound windows . Above it is an onion helmet . The sacristy from 1973 adjoins the tower to the east. The side portals are arched in the shape of a basket with cornices , the windows are designed as arched windows . The west facade is structured by narrow corner pilasters and a grooved gable cornice. The main portal is also a basket arch portal with fighters and a wedge from 1803. On the south wall of the choir there is a grave slab of Johann von Feuerstein († 1674) with an inscription and coat of arms.

Interior

Above the choir and the nave is a flat ceiling over a throat and stucco cornices. The corners to the triumphal arch wall are rounded. The triumphal arch is wide and arched with a profiled warrior cornice. The west gallery from the 19th century stands on wooden baluster columns .

The ceiling paintings are set in quatrefoil medallions . The paintings are by Josef Berkmann from the year 1826. The “ Last Supper ” is depicted in the choir and the “ Assumption of Mary ” in the nave . The four church fathers are represented in the four small medallions around them.

Furnishing

The high altar from the years 1720 to 1730 with additions from the beginning of the 19th century is a wooden structure with a high base. The altarpiece is supported by three columns on both sides of the altarpiece . The essay is designed in the form of a volute gable . The altarpiece shows the Most Holy Trinity with Saint Martin and Saint Wendelin as advocates. On the lower edge of the altarpiece is the view of Krumbach. The painting is by Andreas Brugger from 1805. The upper picture shows St. Fidelis . The two lower side figures from the time the altar was built represent Saints Peter and Paul . Next to the upper image are two baroque figures depicting holy popes. The tabernacle is from the beginning of the 19th century.

The side altars are built in the Baroque style, but date from the 19th century. The altarpiece on the left shows the "rosary donation". This was painted by Josef Wilhelm in 1860. The upper picture shows Anna teaching Maria to read . In the base of the altar , a reliquary of the holy is Konstantia admitted. The picture on the right side altar shows St. Joseph with the baby Jesus and John the Baptist as a child. It comes from Melchior Paul Deschwanden and was restored in 1931. In the base of the altar there is a reliquary of St. Innocentius .

The pulpit dates from the 18th century and was slightly changed at the beginning of the 19th century. The " Sermon on the Mount " and "Christ with Martha " are on the basket . On the cover is a statue of the Archangel Michael from the early 18th century. On the south wall of the nave is a late Gothic crucifix from the end of the 15th century. On the gallery wall are oval pictures of the twelve apostles from the beginning of the 19th century.

Jakob Folmer cast the bell in 1476.
