Catholic parish church of St. Michael in Landsee

The Roman Catholic parish church Landsee is located in the village of Landsee in the municipality of Markt Sankt Martin in the Oberpullendorf district in Burgenland . It is consecrated to St. Michael and belongs to the dean's office in Oberpullendorf in the Eisenstadt diocese . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

The parish was founded in 1804. The current church was built around 1800. After a fire in 1897, the church was rebuilt in 1909. In 1954 a restoration took place.

Church exterior

The church is a classicist building with neo-Romanesque additions to the nave and a retracted, flat closed choir. The facade is structured by buttresses . The church tower is three-story and has a pointed helmet.

Church interior

The nave of the church has three bays and is square vaulted . In between are wide belt arches with double supports that rest on pilasters . The gallery rests on iron supports and was enlarged in 1928. The round-arched triumphal arch is fluted throughout. There is a square vault in the choir.

Furnishing

The high altar has a wide classical tabernacle with angels. In the essay is a replica of the Mariazell Mother of God . Behind it is modern wall painting. The pulpit from the second half of the 17th century is decorated with putti and cartilage . It was transferred here from the abolished Pauline monastery in Wandorf in 1786 . The font was built around 1800. To the side of the main altar are two baroque carved figures of the holy church fathers. There are two other figures in the rectory. On the triumphal arch are two late Baroque carved figures of Saints Peter and Paul from the second half of the 18th century. Under the gallery there is a baroque statue of Immaculate from the first half of the 18th century and two baroque figures of Saints John Nepomuk and John the Baptist . An oil painting of St. Thekla from the 18th century hangs over the sacristy door . The 14 Stations of the Cross are oil paintings in oval frames with shell decoration from around 1750. They were restored in 1967. The vestry cupboard from the first quarter of the 18th century comes from the Camaldolese monastery in Landsee .
