The Roman Catholic parish church of Mischendorf is located in the middle of the municipality of Mischendorf in the Oberwart district in Burgenland . It is consecrated to St. Ladislaus and belongs to the dean's office in Rechnitz in the Eisenstadt diocese . The building is a listed building .

history

The parish, which was founded in the Middle Ages, was Protestant at times and was rebuilt as a Catholic parish church in 1654. The medieval parish church was outside the village and was dedicated to Saints Cosmas and Damian and was demolished in 1831. The present church was renovated in 1697 using medieval inventory. In 1757 the tower was built. The nave was re-vaulted in 1768 as part of a renovation, and the church tower was raised in 1864. The church was restored in 1946 and painted in 1968.

The church is a single-nave building with a long, retracted choir. The apse is closed by a 5/8 end and structured by buttresses . The west tower is four storeys high and has a pointed helmet . The sacristy adjoins the church on the south side. The stucco decor dates from 1768.

Church interior

The nave has four bays. Above it is a barrel vault with stitch caps . In between are belt arches that rest on flat pilasters . The three-axis gallery is vaulted . A wide triumphal arch separates the nave from the choir. There is a square vault above the choir yoke, and a narrow transverse barrel and three stabbed caps above the apse. In the ceiling zone there is baroque decorative painting. The paintings from 1946 are by Joseph Gruber .

The high altar

The high altar was created in the second quarter of the 18th century. It was originally placed in the Szent Laszló Church in Bucsu and was transferred from there in 1772. The altar is a niche altar with a volute canopy over Tuscan columns. The altar bears three statues, St. Ladislaus is depicted in the middle, and St. Joachim and St. Anna behind the columns . The altar was restored in 1946.

The pulpit dates from the first half of the 18th century. Figures of the four evangelists and St. Paul are depicted on the basket , on the sound cover is a statue depicting Christ in the form of the Salvator . The pulpit was also restored in 1946. In the church there is also a lecture cross from the 18th century and the picture of a former side altar from 1750 showing St. Patrick .
