The Roman Catholic parish church Steeg is located in the municipality of Steeg in the Reutte district in the state of Tyrol . The parish church consecrated to St. Oswald belongs to the deanery Breitenwang in the diocese of Innsbruck . The church with the war memorial chapel are under monument protection .

history

The church in Steeg was a branch of the Holzgau parish church from 1401 . In 1570 a chapel was mentioned in a document , which was enlarged in 1687. In 1712/1714 there was a new building and in 1886/1787 another new building, which was consecrated in 1811. In 1969 the nave was expanded during a complete restoration .

architecture

The simple late baroque church building stands south of the Lech bridge at the southern end of the street village of Steeg. The nave and the retracted choir with arched windows have a common gable roof . The two-storey sacristy extension to the east of the choir shows two rows of arched windows . The south tower in the choir corner to the nave has an axially upper floor with four arched windows and eight circular and oval sound openings and has an onion helmet . There is a chapel niche in the substructure of the choir. The portal shows a relief of the Last Supper by the sculptor Jos Pirkner (1972).

Furnishing

The high altar from Oetz has a structure around 1700 with rococo decor additions .
