history

The parish church at Oeverseestraße 2c was built from 1978 to 1980 according to plans by the architect Josef Vytiska . The church was elevated to a parish church in 1981.

architecture

The church tower is oriented to the north, the portal is on the south side and is slightly higher than street level. The associated parish center is directly attached to the church.

The simple, low Lecabeton building has flat roofs. The rectangular flat-roofed multi-purpose hall has a raised apsidial closed stage area, adjoining it to the south is a smaller, flat-roofed rectangular chapel, and on the east side there are parish rooms and apartments over two floors. The solemn celebrations of the Catholic Church are held in the multi-purpose hall, which can accommodate 400 people, if more space is required.

The interior of the church, which has an almost square floor plan, is simple. The concrete walls are painted white, while the floor is covered with red-brown tiles. Just under the ceiling, which rests on wooden beams, there is a narrow band of glass windows. This shows the motifs of sun , ears of wheat , grapes and moon and, apart from the glass surface above the portal, is the only natural light source in the room. The wooden figure of Christ crucified hangs on the eastern wall of the church , but without the cross beams. To the left is the tabernacle bearing the symbols of the four evangelists , and to the right is a wooden statue of St. Mary with the baby Jesus. The altar, a simple wooden table, is placed near this wall. The interior is also furnished with wooden armchairs that are set up in a circle around the altar, with only one row behind the altar. There is no such thing as an excellent armchair, and you can also choose your seat during mass, even behind the altar.

The stained glass in the chapel was created by Clarisse Praun and Wilhelm Kocian after 1980, the panel painting For the Lord's Supper was created by Hermann Bauch (1980), the wooden figures Corpus Christi and Mary with Child were created by the sculptor and painter Josef Papst (1981).
