Philipp Eger (born July 24, 1977 in Augsburg ) is a German sports commentator , presenter and journalist .

Life

He grew up in Augsburg. After high school and community service, he sat in on Bayerischer Rundfunk in 1999 . During his studies (political science, economics and sociology at the University of Augsburg ), Eger mainly worked for Radio Bayern3 , including hosting the afternoon program with Susanne Rohrer . He still works as a Bayern3 presenter today.

Eger began his reporting career in 2004 in the sports department of Bayerischer Rundfunk . He comments on games in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga , in the DFB-Pokal and in the Champions League for ARD radio and for the Bayern1 radio show Heute im Stadion . Among other things, he accompanied FC Bayern Munich's CL semi-final second leg at Real Madrid in 2018. He is on the commentary team of the ARD Bundesliga conference . He also works as a television commentator for Bavarian Broadcasting in the field of tennis.

In August 2016, Eger became Christoph Deumling's successor as the presenter of the Bundesliga program Today in the Stadium on Radio Bayern1 .

In addition to his work at BR, he has been working for the television channel Eurosport since 2006 . As a tennis commentator, he accompanies the Grand Slam tournaments, including on site. In the Bundesliga, Eger has been part of the live team alongside Matthias Stach since August 2017 .

Award

In March 2018, Philipp Eger and other ARD reporters won the Herbert Zimmermann Prize from the Association of German Sports Journalists in the "Reportage" category for the ARD Bundesliga conference on December 16, 2017.

Philipp Eger is married to the presenter Julia Büchler .
