Philipp Pöllitzer

Philipp Pöllitzer OMI (born January 18, 1940 in Mörtelsdorf , Austria ) is an Austrian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Keetmanshoop in Namibia .

Life

Philipp Pöllitzer joined the Congregation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate in, laid in 1960, the profession , and received on 17 December in 1965 by the Archbishop of Salzburg , Andreas Rohracher , the sacrament of Holy Orders . He belonged to the Austrian delegation of the religious order, which is now part of the Central European Order Province.

On May 31, 2007 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Bishop of Keetmanshoop . The Apostolic Nuncio in Namibia, Archbishop James Patrick Green , donated him episcopal ordination on July 14th of the same year. Co- consecrators were Liborius Ndumbukuti Nashenda OMI, Archbishop of Windhoek , and Jabulani Adatus Nxumalo OMI, Archbishop of Bloemfontein .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on July 21, 2017.
