The nearest train station in the regular service is Malton, about 12 km south of Pickering. Pickering Station is the starting point for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway , a museum railroad leading to Whitby during the summer. Plans to reactivate the branch line from Malton to Pickering, which would create a continuous rail link from York to Whitby, were put on hold due to the lack of financial resources. It would cost around £ 21 million to complete.
