Pidlyssja ( Ukrainian Підлисся ; Russian Подлесье Podlessje , Polish Podlesie ) is a village in the east of the Ukrainian Lviv Oblast with about 300 inhabitants (2001).

The village, first mentioned in writing in 1550, is located in the historical landscape of Galicia . Markijan Schaschkewytsch was born here in 1811, for whom a literature and memorial museum was set up in the local village library in 1959. In 1986 the house in which Shashkevych spent his first years was renovated and a museum was set up. In the center of the village there is also the Transfiguration Church, a three-domed wooden church built in 1735, in which Markijan Schaschkewytsch's father was a pastor.

Geographical location

The village is located in the District Municipality Bilyj fireplace in the north of Rajon Zolochiv at an altitude of 235  m , 6 km north of the community center Bilyj fireplace , 17 km northwest of the Rajonzentrum Zolochiv and 70 km east of the Oblastzentrum Lviv . The M 06 / E 40 road runs a few kilometers north of Pidlyssja near the village of Oschydiv in the Busk district .
