Pier Carlo Bontempi (* 1954 in Fornovo di Taro , Italy ) is an Italian architect and professor at various universities.

Bontempi is known for its buildings in the traditional style , which follow the guideline of New Urbanism . In 2014 he was honored with the Driehaus Architecture Prize for his achievements in this area .

His architectural office is located in Collecchio in Emilia-Romagna .

Bontempi studied architecture at the University of Florence . During his career he taught a. a. at the architecture faculty of Florence, at the École Spéciale d'Architecture in Paris , at the Syracuse University Abroad Center in Florence, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart , and at the Foundation for Building Community of Prince Charles in London .

Museum buildings planned by Bontempi won the architectural competition for the development plan of an old town block in Parma and implemented his project there from 1981 to 1987. In addition to the traditional design language of the new buildings, the careful handling of old building fabric always played a major role in Bontempi's work.

In 2015, the La Masone museum buildings planned by Bontempi for Franco Maria Ricci in Fontanellato near Parma were completed.
